New Features to Boost Your Creativity on YouTube Shorts
YouTube has released the third installment of Release Notes with Rene and Johanna, focusing on YouTube Shorts. In this edition, Rene Ritchie sat down with YouTube’s Chief Product Officer, Johanna Voolich, to discuss the broader opportunities for Shorts, share some of her favorite creators, and give a sneak peek at upcoming features.
YouTube Shorts aims to break down barriers to creation, making it fun and easy to share your voice, whether you’re a seasoned creator or just starting out. The goal is to inspire creativity and introduce tools that simplify the process on Shorts.
Here Are Six New Tools Coming Soon:
1. Auto layout for better shorts
Last year, YouTube introduced tools to help transform regular videos into Shorts. Now, it’s getting even better! Soon, Android users can use Auto Layout, which automatically tracks the main subject in your video while turning it into a Short. The tool will pan, zoom, and crop dynamically to ensure your Shorts look fantastic.
2. Text-to-speech for narration
Creators will have more ways to express themselves with the new Text-to-Speech feature. After recording a Short, add your text and tap the “Add voice” icon in the top left corner to choose from four voices that can narrate your text out loud.
3. Interactive “Add Yours” sticker
To inspire your audience with related content, creators can now include an “Add Yours” sticker in their Shorts. This feature is perfect for showing off the latest trick you taught your dog and encouraging viewers to share their own related content, sparking a chain reaction of adorable videos! This feature will roll out gradually over the next few weeks.
4. Minecraft effects for celebratory fun
In celebration of Minecraft’s 15th anniversary, YouTube Shorts is launching two new effects. Minecraft Spring transports you into the world of Minecraft, and Minecraft Rush is a new mini-game you can play within the Shorts player. Tap to clear blocks as fast as you can, record your attempt, and compete with your friends!
5. Stylized captions for accessibility
Soon, creators can add auto-generated captions directly to their content, making Shorts more engaging and accessible for viewers who watch on mute. Customize and style your captions with different fonts and colors to make your Shorts shine!
6. Remix a remix
YouTube has rolled out several remixing tools, with the latest allowing you to remix a remix! Whether joining a dance trend or continuing a musical chain, remixing a remix lets you join the fun with other creators while adding your unique twist.
